Healing Through Art:

I've experienced love multiple times throughout my life, and let me tell you, relationships can be challenging. I used to believe love was everlasting, but one day, I woke up to the realization that things weren't going well. It was a difficult decision, but I knew it was best for both of us to part ways. Initially, the pain was overwhelming, but I chose to view this experience as an opportunity for personal growth. Today, I want to share with you the steps I took to rebuild my life after the breakdown of my relationship, and how I discovered solace and tranquility through the power of painting.

Painting became my outlet for venting frustrations caused by a simultaneous break-up, being confined indoors, and dealing with an injury. It was a time when my emotions were running wild, and negative thoughts consumed me. During a phone cleanup session, I stumbled upon a photo of Meagan, her mischievous cat perched inside an Amazon box. The image brought a smile to my face, and I felt compelled to transform it into a painting. Don't let the cuteness deceive you – that little feline had a knack for biting me whenever I diverted my attention. Perhaps it was her way of training me! 😄 After sketching a few drafts, I was ready to bring this whimsical scene to life on canvas.

It had been quite some time since I last held a paintbrush and immersed myself in the world of art, a nostalgic memory from the 90s. As I picked up the brush again, I couldn't help but recall the texture, viscosity, color, and scent of the oil paint. Mixing paints, contemplating composition, exploring different styles, and choosing brushes all brought me a profound sense of tranquility. It became a way for me to reflect, accept the situation, and find gratitude for the experiences shared with that person.

This simple act of reconnecting with painting became my first stride toward overcoming disappointment and shedding the stories I had been telling myself. I shifted my focus toward creation and improvement, embracing a growth mindset. I delved into the creative process, fearlessly experimenting with ideas and concepts. With each stroke, my confidence grew, leading me to share my story online and open up about it confidently when meeting new people. The essence of this journey is a reminder to disrupt negative thoughts with something we love or by learning something new—anything that helps us find ourselves once more.

And so, that's how I revived my broken heart. It wasn't easy, but through continuous self-improvement and vigilance, everything will eventually fall into place.

The Finished painting of meagan 7"x 9.5" inches.

Megan, the cat that helped revive my heart.
